Inter Miami CF announced on Thursday night the appointment of Cristian Alberto 'Kily' Gonzalez, 52, as their new head coach, pending the issuance of his work permits. In the interim, sporting director Guillermo Hoyos, 63, will oversee the team, though he faces a one-match suspension and fine from MLS for repeated violations of the league's late kickoff policy, meaning he will miss Saturday's home match against CF Montreal. Gonzalez replaces Javier Mascherano, who stepped down on April 14, and has a close personal relationship with club captain Lionel Messi.
