International Cricket Council revamps formats for men's World Cups

The International Cricket Council has announced changes to the formats of two major men's tournaments. A preliminary round will be added before the group stage of the 2027 one-day international World Cup, while the playoff structure for the 2028 Twenty20 World Cup has also been revamped. India is the current T20 World Cup defending champion, having won the tournament on home soil in March.
