IOC approves Olympic Qualification System for boxing competition at LA28
The IOC has approved World Boxing's qualification system for boxing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with 248 places available split equally between 124 male and 124 female competitors across seven weight classes each β marking the first time in Olympic history that boxing will feature full gender parity. The qualification pathway consists of three global competitions and five Continental events, giving boxers up to four opportunities to qualify. The process begins with the 2027 World Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan, followed by Continental qualifiers in 2027 and 2028.
