Irish cycling in shock after death of Shane O'Brien (16) in training crash

Shane O'Brien, a 16-year-old cyclist from Fermoy, Co Cork, Ireland, died following a training ride crash in Co Waterford on Tuesday. The first-year junior had recently represented the Irish junior team at the Course de la Paix Juniors stage race in the Czech Republic in May, and had secured a place with the British CAMS Majaco junior team, a feeder squad for Ineos Grenadiers. Cycling Ireland described itself as 'shocked and deeply saddened' by the news.
