Italian Open: Jannik Sinner beats Casper Ruud in final to complete set of Masters 1000 titles and end 50-year wait for male home winner
Jannik Sinner defeated Casper Ruud 6-4 6-4 in the Italian Open final in Rome on Sunday to become the first Italian man to win the tournament in 50 years, since Adriano Panatta in 1976. The World No. 1 also became only the second man in history, after Novak Djokovic, to win all nine Masters 1000 titles, completing the so-called 'Golden Masters'. The victory further cements Sinner's status as the dominant force in men's tennis.
