Itoje left out of England training squad with summer rest expected

England rugby captain Maro Itoje has been left out of Steve Borthwick's 26-man June training squad gathering in Bagshot, with the national side expected to give him a summer rest barring a significant injury crisis among second row candidates. Itoje's club Saracens failed to reach the Premiership play-offs, but he will miss at least the upcoming England XV vs France XV fixture in Vannes. Other senior players including Jamie George, Ben Earl, and Tom Curry are involved, along with uncapped prospects such as Afolabi Fasogbon, Ben Redshaw, and Benhard Janse van Rensburg.
