‘It’s going to be a weekend like no other.’ London Marathon’s Hugh Brasher reveals all about the two-day event
The 2027 London Marathon will be a one-time-only two-day event, as revealed by CEO Hugh Brasher in a podcast with Runner's World. The idea was originally conceived in 2017 with plans to split 80,000 runners across two days for the 2020 race, but was blocked by stakeholders at the time. The decision to revive the concept was driven by a record-breaking 1,338,544 entries in the ballot for the 2027 event, though Brasher confirmed the two-day format will not become a permanent fixture.
