James Milner, Premier League’s appearance record holder, retires aged 40

James Milner, the 40-year-old former England midfielder, has announced his retirement after 24 Premier League seasons. He broke the record for most Premier League appearances while playing for Brighton against Brentford in February, finishing his career with a total of 658 top-flight appearances. Milner began his career at boyhood club Leeds and spent his final three years at Brighton.
