Jannik Sinner and Jack Draper out of US Open as injuries take their toll

World No 1 Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the US Open due to a right knee injury, having not played since defending his Wimbledon title against Alexander Zverev last month. British player Jack Draper is also out of the tournament, still recovering from a bone bruise in his left arm. Their absences come a day after Carlos Alcaraz announced his return to Flushing Meadows after four months out with a wrist injury.
