Jannik Sinner defeats Daniil Medvedev to advance to 2026 Italian Open final

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in a rain-delayed semi-final at the 2026 Italian Open on Saturday 16 May, completing the match in just 15 minutes after play resumed the following day. Sinner saved two match points before closing out the win and will face Norway's Casper Ruud in the final on Sunday 17 May. Ruud reached the final after defeating Italian Luciano Darderi 6-1, 6-1 in the other semi-final.
