Jannik Sinner to miss China Open with lingering knee injury

World number one Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the China Open due to a lingering knee injury, meaning he will not defend the title he won in 2023 and 2025. The same injury previously kept the 25-year-old Italian out of the US Open in August, and he has not competed since beating Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final. The China Open begins on Wednesday and concludes on 6 October.
