Jannik Sinner: World No 1 withdraws from Rolex Shanghai Masters as knee injury forces him to skip China Open

World No 1 Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from both the China Open and the Rolex Shanghai Masters (beginning October 7) due to a knee injury. The Italian last played in July when he defended his Wimbledon title against Alexander Zverev, and had also previously missed the US Open because of the same problem. Sinner expressed disappointment at being unable to compete, having confirmed on Saturday that he was 'not ready to compete' at either tournament.
