Japan’s Inoue beats Nakatani to retain undisputed super bantamweight title
Naoya Inoue retained his undisputed super bantamweight world title on May 2, 2026, defeating fellow Japanese boxer Junto Nakatani by unanimous decision with scores of 116-112, 115-113, and 116-112. The 33-year-old Inoue, known as 'the Monster,' remained unbeaten in front of a sold-out crowd of 55,000 fans at the Tokyo Dome. The bout was billed as the biggest boxing match in Japanese history.
