Jockey banned for 21 days for ‘dangerous riding’ after ‘deliberately’ impeding rival
Jockey Philip Byrnes has been handed a 21-day ban for dangerous riding after Limerick stewards ruled he deliberately impeded a rival during a race. Byrnes had initially finished first past the post aboard Marian Avenue, a favourite trained by his father Charles Byrnes, but the horse was subsequently disqualified following the stewards' inquiry. The ban and disqualification follow an official finding of deliberate interference against a competing rider.
