Johnston native Joe Mazzulla named NBA Coach of the Year

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla, a Johnston native and former Bishop Hendricken and West Virginia player, has been named the 2025-26 NBA Coach of the Year. He guided Boston to a 56-26 regular season record and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference before losing to Philadelphia in the playoffs. Mazzulla becomes the fourth Boston head coach to win the award, joining Red Auerbach, Tom Heinsohn, and Bill Fitch.
