Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen set for 1500m showdown at World Athletics Ultimate Championship

World mile record-holder Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen are set to face each other in the men's 1500m at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, marking their first major competition meeting since the 2023 World Championships final, where Kerr defeated Ingebrigtsen to win gold. Ingebrigtsen enters the race having won his seventh European Championships title in the 5000m in Birmingham, returning from Achilles surgery he underwent in January 2025. Kerr skipped the European Championships after breaking the world mile record in July, instead competing at the Commonwealth Games mile event, where he also claimed gold.
