Judge grants second Wimbledon expansion challenge

A campaign group called Save Wimbledon Park (SWP) has been granted permission by the Court of Appeal to challenge a High Court ruling that cleared the way for Wimbledon's expansion plans. The All England Club intends to build 38 new tennis courts and an 8,000-seat stadium on the former Wimbledon Park Golf Club site, but SWP argues the land is subject to a statutory trust under a 150-year-old law. The appeal hearing is expected to take place in 2027 and is estimated to last approximately three days.
