Katie Archibald retires from professional cycling: ‘I’m not scared anymore.’
Scottish cyclist Katie Archibald, 32, has announced her retirement from professional cycling. During her career she became the first Scottish woman to win a world title and made history alongside Laura Kenny by winning the first women's Madison gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, having joined the senior track endurance squad in 2013. Archibald cited no longer feeling scared to leave the sport and a desire to embrace life outside of cycling as her reasons for stepping away.
