Kejelcha regains world half marathon record with 56:51 in Buenos Aires

Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha regained the world half marathon record on August 23, 2026, clocking 56:51 at the Media Maratón Ciudad de Buenos Aires. His performance beat the pending 57:20 world record set by Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo in Lisbon in March 2026, taking 29 seconds off that mark. In the women's race, fellow Ethiopian Fotyen Tesfay won convincingly with a time of 1:03:57.
