Kenya to host World Athletics Championships

Kenya will host the 2029 World Athletics Championships in Nairobi, making it the first African nation to stage the event after beating London and Rome in the bidding process. The announcement has generated excitement among athletes, including newly crowned 800m world champion Lilian Odira, who anticipates competing on home soil. However, concerns persist over Kenya's doping record and whether infrastructure such as stadiums, transport links, and accommodation will be ready in time.
