Kipchoge claims Melbourne Marathon course record at 41
Eliud Kipchoge, 41, won the Melbourne Marathon on October 11 in a course record time of 2:09:10, shaving two seconds off the previous record of 2:09:12 set by Timothy Kiplagat Ronoh in 2022. It was the 17th marathon victory of the Kenyan great's career and his first since Berlin in 2023, with Kipchoge making his decisive move just before the 27km mark and running the final 15km alone. The race featured a redesigned, flatter course that included part of the Albert Park Formula One circuit and finished inside the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
