Koivunen signs 8-year, $32 million contract with Penguins

Ville Koivunen, a 23-year-old forward, signed an eight-year, $32 million contract (AAV $4 million) with the Pittsburgh Penguins on August 6, 2026. Last season, he recorded 7 points in 39 NHL games and posted 41 points in 34 AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, adding 9 points in 15 playoff games to help the club reach the AHL Eastern Conference Final. Originally drafted by Carolina in 2021, Koivunen was acquired by Pittsburgh in a seven-player trade in March 2024 that sent Jake Guentzel to the Hurricanes.
