Kurtz extends historic walk streak to 19 games, ties Ted Williams
Oakland Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz has drawn at least one walk in 19 consecutive games, tying Ted Williams for the third-longest such streak since walks were first tracked for individual hitters. Kurtz achieved the milestone after being intentionally walked in the seventh inning of Thursday's 6-3 win over the Kansas City Royals at Sutter Health Park. He now leads the Majors with 33 walks and sits one game behind Barry Bonds' 20-game streak from 2002-03, with Roy Cullenbine's all-time record of 22 games still ahead.
