LA Kings reportedly hiring former Rangers coach Peter Laviolette to 3-year deal
The Los Angeles Kings have hired veteran NHL coach Peter Laviolette on a three-year contract, as reported on June 8, 2026. Laviolette, who was fired by the New York Rangers last April after missing the playoffs in the 2024-25 season, brings 23 seasons of NHL head coaching experience across six previous franchises. The Kings will become his seventh NHL franchise, having previously coached teams including the New York Islanders starting in 2001 and reaching the Stanley Cup Final three times with three different teams.
