Lando Norris issues ‘league of their own’ admission of F1 rivals
Lando Norris admitted McLaren lacked the straight-line speed to challenge Mercedes at the Italian Grand Prix, where he and teammate Oscar Piastri finished fourth and fifth, 19 seconds behind race winner Kimi Antonelli. The result ended Norris's back-to-back victories from Hungary and the Netherlands, with Antonelli securing a landmark win for Mercedes ahead of George Russell, and Max Verstappen finishing third for Red Bull. Norris acknowledged that both Mercedes and Red Bull had a clear performance advantage at Monza, describing Mercedes as being 'in a league of their own' compared to McLaren.
