Lando Norris reveals surprise at timing of McLaren recovery

Lando Norris won the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, taking McLaren's first victory of the season by finishing over 15 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen. The result followed a difficult start to the campaign in which McLaren collected just 18 points from the opening two rounds, falling 80 points behind Mercedes due to MGU-K reliability failures and Oscar Piastri's Melbourne crash. The turnaround was driven by a major upgrade package on the MCL40, including a new floor, revised front and rear corners, and reworked brake ducts, which Norris admitted delivered results sooner than he had expected.
