Lando Norris risks unwanted F1 record as disastrous title defence continues

Lando Norris, the reigning 2025 Formula 1 world champion, is currently sixth in the drivers' standings with 201 points and six races remaining, putting him at risk of becoming the first defending champion to finish outside the top five since Damon Hill in 1997. Hill won the title with Williams in 1996 but was dropped and finished 12th with Arrows in 1997. Norris is just 14 points behind Leclerc in fifth and 20 points behind Verstappen in fourth, keeping a top-five finish mathematically possible.
