Lando Norris says 2026 Formula 1 regulations mean way too many things are out of drivers' control

Following the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, Lando Norris has voiced strong criticism of the current Formula 1 regulations, specifically the 2026 V6 Turbo Hybrid power units where electricity contributes 50% of overall power output. Norris complained that the power units are controlling the drivers rather than the other way around, with erratic power spikes and unexpected cut-offs occurring due to a self-learning element sensitive to driver input, as revealed by McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella. George Russell has also been vocal about his Mercedes power unit failing to deliver adequate straight-line speed in his W17, with the Mercedes team reportedly unable to identify a fix.
