Las Vegas Grand Prix settle 2023 class action lawsuit loose water cover incident
Las Vegas Grand Prix and its parent company Liberty Media Corp. have agreed to pay over $3 million to settle a class-action lawsuit stemming from the inaugural 2023 Formula 1 race on November 23, 2023, where a loose water valve cover caused a 2.5-hour delay and sent fans home without seeing the final practice session. The lawsuit, originally filed in 2023 and initially seeking $5 billion, will distribute funds to fans who held one-day practice session tickets or three-day race tickets, with attorney fees capped at $914,396. Neither Liberty Media nor Las Vegas Grand Prix admitted any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
