LeBron James signs with Sixers as Philadelphia loads up with hopes of winning first title since 1983

LeBron James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer and four-time champion, announced Friday he is joining the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2026-27 season, his 24th as a professional. He signed an $8 million, two-year contract with a player option, reportedly choosing Philadelphia over the Cavaliers, Heat, Warriors, and Timberwolves. The Sixers, who last won the NBA title in 1983, are hoping James can help end their 43-year championship drought alongside Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and Joel Embiid.
