Lewis Hamilton Canadian Grand Prix pole position proved his F1 boss wrong
Lewis Hamilton reflected on his first Formula 1 pole position and race victory, which came at the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve when he was a 22-year-old rookie. Despite being told by McLaren management he would be half a second slower than two-time champion and teammate Fernando Alonso, Hamilton not only matched Alonso but beat him in both qualifying and the race. The victory also saw Hamilton leapfrog Alonso in the drivers' championship standings, and he now holds the all-time record of 104 F1 pole positions.
