Lewis Hamilton: Maiden Ferrari win "couldn't be closer"
Lewis Hamilton has stated that his first win for Ferrari 'couldn't be closer' as he sits second in the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship after six rounds, with consecutive runner-up finishes. The 41-year-old had a difficult debut season with Ferrari in 2025, finishing podium-less for the first time in his 18-year career and ending 86 points behind teammate Charles Leclerc. Hamilton credits the 2026 regulation changes, which introduced nimbler cars, along with personnel changes including a new race engineer, for his turnaround under team boss Fred Vasseur.
