On 14 July 2019, Lewis Hamilton won his record-breaking sixth British Grand Prix at Silverstone, surpassing the previous mark of five victories shared by Jim Clark and Alain Prost. The decisive moment came on Lap 19 when Antonio Giovinazzi's Alfa Romeo triggered a safety car, allowing Hamilton to take a free pit stop from the lead while teammate Valtteri Bottas, who had already stopped under green flag conditions, was committed to a two-stop strategy. Hamilton rejoined in the lead and went on to win by 24.928 seconds over Bottas.
