Lewis Hamilton stripped of Belgian GP victory after massive penalty for illegal overtake
On 7 September 2008, Lewis Hamilton crossed the finish line first at the Belgian Grand Prix at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, but was handed a 25-second post-race penalty by the stewards for cutting the Bus Stop chicane while battling Kimi Räikkönen for the lead on lap 42 of 44. The penalty demoted Hamilton from first to third place, making it one of the most controversial decisions in Formula 1 history.
