Lewis in England Rugby League World Cup squad

Mikey Lewis of Hull KR has been selected in England's 23-man Rugby League World Cup squad for the tournament in Australia this month, edging out half-back rival Jake Connor under new head coach Brian McDermott. The squad includes seven Wigan players and five uncapped players, among them Hugo Savala and Victor Radley, who recently won the NRL Grand Final with Sydney. Notable absentees include players from Leeds and newly crowned Super League champions Wakefield, with several Wakefield players withdrawing due to injury.
