Lionel Messi joins Denis Bouanga in elite MLS club

Lionel Messi scored his 20th goal of the 2026 MLS season during Inter Miami CF's 2-2 draw with San Diego FC on Matchday 27, curling home a free kick. The milestone made Messi the second player in MLS history to score 20 or more goals in three consecutive seasons, joining LAFC's Denis Bouanga (2023–25). The goal also extended Messi's lead at the top of the Golden Boot presented by Audi standings.
