Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami aims to subdue New York City FC

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez each scored braces in a 4-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday, ending Inter Miami's five-match winless streak and returning them to second place in the Eastern Conference with 49 points. Inter Miami (13-5-10) now host New York City FC on Wednesday, October 13, 2026, looking to build on that momentum. Messi, who leads the MLS Golden Boot race with 23 goals, is also a strong Ballon d'Or candidate following his World Cup final appearance with Argentina and Inter Miami's MLS Cup title last season.
