LIV gets funding to keep league alive, CEO says
LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil announced Wednesday at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, that the league has secured an agreement with an outside lead investor to keep the circuit alive beyond this season, though the investor's identity and exact amount remain undisclosed. O'Neil is seeking between $250 million and $300 million after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew its financial backing on April 30, having spent more than $5 billion funding the league over five seasons. LIV Golf expects to finalize terms in the coming weeks and close the transaction in September, with over a dozen additional parties expressing interest as potential minority investors.
