Liverpool beat Chelsea on penalties yet again to secure Carabao Cup progress

Liverpool defeated Chelsea on penalties for the fifth time in their history, advancing to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after a last-16 tie at Anfield. Wesley Fofana's missed penalty, which sailed over the bar into the Kop, proved decisive, while goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili also made a crucial save to deny Emmanuel Emegha. The result extends Chelsea's dismal shoot-out record against Liverpool, who have now beaten them in all five penalty encounters dating back to the 2007 Champions League semi-final.
