Andoni Iraola, 43, has been appointed as Liverpool's new head coach on a two-year contract, confirmed just six days after the sacking of Arne Slot. The Spanish-Basque manager, who previously coached Bournemouth, was Liverpool's favoured candidate and the only one formally approached, fending off interest from Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, and Crystal Palace. Other candidates such as Stuttgart's Sebastian Hoeness and Lens' Pierre Sage were considered but not contacted.
