Liverpool owners close to £1.35bn sale of 30% stake to consortium including Jeff Bezos

A consortium including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is close to purchasing a 30% stake in Liverpool Football Club from Fenway Sports Group for approximately £1.35 billion. The group is led by Amit Bhatia, son-in-law of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal and a former shareholder and director at Queens Park Rangers, with Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin also among the investors. The deal is effectively agreed but may take up to a month to formally complete.
