Liverpool sign defender Araujo on loan from Barça

Liverpool have completed the signing of Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent next summer for around €55 million. The 27-year-old Uruguayan international, who made just 16 starts in all competitions last season at Barça, has taken a pay cut to facilitate the move, while Liverpool have paid no loan fee. New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola sought defensive reinforcement with Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni, and Jérémy Jacquet all recovering from injury.
