Liverpool sporting director Hughes steps down

Liverpool have confirmed that sporting director Richard Hughes has stepped down from his role after approximately two years at the club, having joined from AFC Bournemouth in March 2024. The 47-year-old is expected to take up a similar sporting director position at Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. During his time at Liverpool, Hughes was credited with appointing Arne Slot as Jürgen Klopp's successor, with Slot going on to win the Premier League.
