Logan Reilly goes overtime again in U.S. Amateur to be among 8 players to advance Merion

At the U.S. Amateur held at Merion, Logan Reilly and Carter Loflin both squandered 2-up leads with two holes remaining but recovered to win their respective matches in extra holes on Thursday, August 13, 2026, advancing to the quarterfinals. Michael Lugiano, a Pennsylvania native and Liberty University junior, also reached the final eight by winning all three of his matches on the 18th hole. Notably, the quarterfinal field no longer includes any player from the top 10 in the world amateur ranking.
