London bids for 2029 World Athletics Champs after West Ham agreement

London has officially submitted its final bid to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships after securing an agreement with West Ham United to use London Stadium as the host venue. The bid was submitted to World Athletics by Athletic Ventures, a consortium comprising UK Athletics, London Marathon Events, and the Great Run Company. London Stadium, originally built for the 2012 Olympics, has been West Ham's home since 2016 and hosts the annual London Diamond League meeting.
