London Marathon breaks fundraising record again
The 2026 London Marathon has broken its own fundraising record, raising £87.5m for charities, surpassing last year's record of £87.3m, with the final total expected to exceed £90m when announced in September. A record 59,000 people took part in the event, which was held last Sunday in London. Kenyan runner Sabastian Sawe became the first athlete to break the two-hour barrier in an official competition, finishing in 1:59:30, while Ethiopia's Tigst Assefa broke her own women's-only world record with a time of 2:15:41.
