London Marathon considering major change to elite women’s race in 2027

London Marathon CEO Hugh Brasher has expressed openness to introducing a mixed-gender elite race in 2027, which would allow top female runners to compete alongside men in pursuit of faster times. The proposal is partly motivated by the controversial world record held by Ruth Chepng'etich, who is currently banned. The change would represent a significant departure from the traditional format of separate elite men's and women's races at the event.
