London Marathon earns platinum recognition for sustainable delivery – first road race to gain ABW Standard's top level

The 2026 TCS London Marathon has earned platinum-level recognition under World Athletics' Athletics for a Better World (ABW) Standard, making it the first mass participation road running event to reach the standard's highest tier since its launch in 2024. It is only the third one-day athletics event overall to achieve this distinction. The recognition followed a comprehensive assessment and on-site audit by international sustainability experts evaluating the event's sustainable delivery efforts.
