London Marathon: Record of 1.33 million people apply for 2027 event

A record 1,338,544 people have applied via the public ballot for the 2027 London Marathon, which is scheduled for 25 April, surpassing last year's record of 1,133,813 applicants. The 2026 edition saw a record 59,830 finishers and was recognised as the biggest annual one-day fundraising event in the world. Hugh Brasher, chief executive of London Marathon Events, described the total as firmly establishing London as the world's most sought-after marathon.
