London Marathon: Sabastian Sawe record will not mean athletics 'strangle innovation', says Lord Coe
World Athletics president Sebastian Coe has stated that the organisation will not 'strangle innovation' regarding shoe technology, following Sabastian Sawe's historic run at the London Marathon. The 31-year-old Kenyan became the first person to run a competitive marathon in under two hours, winning Sunday's London Marathon in a record-breaking time of 1 hour 59 minutes. Coe, who has been World Athletics president since 2015, said current rules on shoe technology are 'on the right side.'
